The CountActivist Builds a Movement
(Felicity Murphy)
Music-industry vet Bernie Cahill, co-founder of talent and brand management company roar, now presides over full-service talent management, integrated media and advisory firm Activist Artists Management, guiding the careers of The Lumineers, Dead & Company (in collaboration with Azoff/Moir) and Dwight Yoakam, among others.
He co-founded the company, which has offices in Los Angeles, New York, Nashville, and Atlanta, in 2018 with partners Greg Suess and Matt Maher.
An erstwhile intellectual-property attorney who began his career in music publishing and digital rights, Cahill entered the world of artist management in 2004 with the founding of roar, where he established the music division and signed and repped such artists as Zac Brown Band, Yoakam and the Grateful Dead.
Its founding partners have grown Activist Artist Management to a team of 23, including partners Liz Norris, Caitlin Stone and Kristina “Red” Tanner as well as Chris Ruff, Anna Kolander and Karly Brecher. Cahill runs Activist’s music and talent divisions, having brought over the entire music roster from roar (he also signed stadium headliners The Lumineers in year one).
Matt Maher, Dwight Yoakam, Bobby Weir and Cahill wear many hats in the course of their work.
Rooted in a socially conscious ethos, the firm combines entertainment management with artist advocacy and, among other causes, is committed to environmental sustainability and music education.

AAM clients also include the recently signed Orville Peck, The Pretty Reckless, Young the Giant, the Grateful Dead’s Bobby Weir and Leif Vollebekk.
In recent client news, The Lumineers have just launched the North American leg of their Automatic World Tour, spanning shows at Citi Field, Fenway Park, Soldier Field and Mile High Stadium. Following Dead & Company's highly successful run at Sphere, the group will return to San Francisco for three sold‑out shows in Golden Gate Park, Aug. 1–3; the final performance will be livestreamed on IMAX screens throughout the U.S. and Canada. On March 31 Orville Peck made his Broadway debut as the Emcee in Cabaret. He will continue to star through July 20.
For some reason, Cahill has not responded to our 39 texts regarding our favorite versions of "China Cat Sunflower."
Cahill gets his game face on at Fenway with Wesley Schultz and Jeremiah Fraites of The Lumineers. Later, a visiting HITS editor was hit in the nards by a pop fly.
