The CountThe Managers: Joel and Benji Madden, Behind the Scenes (And in the Spotlight)
MDDN is the management company founded by Joel and Benji Madden, the twin brothers behind pop-punk band Good Charlotte. Lately, they’ve spent more time and energy managing the careers of acts like Chase Atlantic, Bad Omens, Eyedress, Poppy, Architects and Highly Suspect than they have on their own band.
Since the tatted twosome launched the management venture in 2014 and their Live Nation-backed livestreaming platform, Veeps, in 2017, Joel and Benji have seen these companies grow from boutique startups to true contenders. Veeps has become the go-to platform for concert streaming.
MDDN, meanwhile, is a powerhouse in alt-rock management, with a staff composed of able veterans like President Joey Simmrin, SVP of Artist Management Miles Sherman, SVP Talent Management Jenn Tolman Hurst and managers Adam Friedman, Jacob Mann, Ryan Bauer and Taylor Foster.
Other clients include producers Zakk Cervini and Jordan Fish and artists Carlie Hanson, Zeph and Luke Borchelt.
All this artist development, it seems, has also energized the brothers’ own creative undertakings—Good Charlotte is gearing up for the Aug. 8 release of Motel du Cap (Atlantic), the band’s first full-length project in seven years; single “Rejects” is taking off at Alternative radio.
The band will hit the road for a handful of dates, including the York State Fair in York, Pennsylvania, on July 23; the I Wanna Be Tour with Fall Out Boy in São Paulo, Brazil, Aug. 23 and 30; Ocean’s Calling in Ocean City, Maryland, on Sept. 27; and Danny Wimmer’s Aftershock festival in Sacramento, California, on Oct. 2. An extended tour is scheduled for 2026.
